Medicated Rice Krispy Treats with RSO (Easy + No Bake!)

how-to-make-RSO-edibles-guide

If you’re looking for a simple, delicious way to enjoy cannabis edibles without spending hours in the kitchen, medicated Rice Krispy treats are one of the easiest options out there when making RSO edibles.

They’re classic, gooey, nostalgic… and with the addition of RSO (Rick Simpson Oil), they pack a serious punch in a very small package.

The best part? No baking required, and RSO is already activated, so it's as easy as mixing it right in.

RSO is a highly concentrated cannabis oil that’s already decarboxylated (activated), meaning it’s ready to use in edibles immediately.

Rice Krispy treats work perfectly because:

  • Butter helps the oil blend smoothly

  • The recipe is low heat (protects potency)

  • They’re easy to portion for consistent dosing

  • They taste amazing

You only need a few simple things: 1 stick of butter, 1 (12 oz) bag mini marshmallows (about 6 cups), 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal and 1 gram of RSO.

If you’ve ever asked yourself “Can I make edibles using RSO” the answer is yes and it is way easier and way cheaper than you might think! Let’s get to baking… Cheers!

Ingredients

  • 1 Stick of butter

  • 1 (12 oz) bag mini marshmallows (about 6 cups)

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

  • 1 gram RSO (Our brand this batch is from Legend and we got it from The Apothecarium in Maryland)

  • Optional: ½ tsp vanilla, pinch of salt, 1 tsp sunflower lecithin

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep your pan

  • Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper or lightly butter it.

2. Melt butter gently

  • In a large pot, melt butter on low heat.

Keep it low — high heat can degrade cannabinoids.

3. Mix in the RSO

  • Once butter is melted, remove from heat or keep on very low.

  • Add the 1 gram of RSO.

  • Stir really well until fully dissolved into the butter and mixed evenly.

Tip: Warm the RSO syringe in a cup of hot water for 1–2 minutes first so it squeezes out easily.

4. Melt marshmallows

  • Add marshmallows into the butter/RSO mixture.

  • Stir constantly until smooth and melted.

5. Add cereal

  • Remove pot from heat, if you kept it on earlier.

  • Fold in Rice Krispies slowly until evenly coated.

6. Press into pan

  • Transfer mixture into your pan.

  • Press down gently with PAM (butter) sprayed wax paper or a buttered spatula.

7. Cool + cut

  • Let sit for 30–60 minutes.

  • Cut into squares.

RSO-edible-ingredients

These medicated Rice Krispy treats are one of the easiest and most reliable homemade edibles you can make, especially when using a ready-to-use concentrate like RSO. They come together quickly, require no baking, and are perfect for portioning into consistent servings.

For this batch, I used 1 gram of RSO from Legend, which operates under Terrascend and I purchased it at The Apothecarium in Maryland, with a tested potency of 76.09% THC.

That means this gram contains approximately:

760 mg of THC total

So depending on how you slice your treats, each piece will land around:

  • 16 pieces → ~47 mg each (very strong)

  • 24 pieces → ~32 mg each

  • 48 pieces → ~16 mg each

  • 96 mini bites → ~8 mg each (great for low-dose)

As always, if you’re new to edibles or sharing with others, it’s best to start small and go slow. Homemade treats can be deceptively powerful, especially with high-potency RSO.

These are a fun, classic way to enjoy cannabis in edible form — chewy, sweet, nostalgic, and incredibly effective. One square is always more than enough to medicate me and is a great alternative to smoking!

Always label clearly and add THC per serving if you keep them around, and be sure to have them put in a spot children can’t get to, or put them in a child proof container if you have young ones around!
